la vie en cozy
I’m in love with the darkening autumn evenings that send us inside to brood.
Fuzzy dotted socks, fuzzy paisley sweater…all bundled into the pose I mimic from my yoga guru/calico kitten who folds her paws, tucks her head into her soft belly plumage and purrs in a compact little heap next to me. Just like the hedgehog balls rolling across the lawn in Alice and the Queen of Hearts’ croquet duel.
And then snap! the french press is heavy with cinnamon-scented hot chocolate and the kitchen table is peopled with Yahtzee dice and Boggle words scrawled on scraps torn from the margins of old college essays.
What does cozy look like to you?
Is this your living room? I really like the style and feel! Makes ME feel cozy!
Thank you! I’m so glad you feel tugged in. (:
Your home looks so cozy and warm! For me, cozy is hot tea–either rooibos or chrysantemum–sitting in my big green chair next to the fireplace. There is also snuggling involved, either with my dogs or my husband…I’m not picky.
Snuggles & tea are high on my list, too — any time of year. (:
votre maison ressemble accueillant et merveilleux
I hope so much that you two will be sitting on that very couch some day!
The comfort this place exudes is magical. The lighting and the space, thanks for the inspiration
I’m so glad you stopped by. (:
new paintings on the walls! nice!
For me cozy is coccooned in my old duvet on the couch with a book, after baking, with wafts of afghans and walnuts surrounding me.
Aaaagh! “This afternoon” for the second “this morning”. I can tell I’ve been up since 530 and need to go to bed. :)
Smell is so important, isn’t it? I love using candles, baking, and incense (not all at the same time ;) to create ambience.
Normally I would say a rainy day with a cup of coffee, curled up on the couch with the cat and a good book (and I got that this morning, mostly), but today I would say cookies and milk in a blanket tent with two giggly boys and a passel of stuffed animals (which I got this morning). I do love a good cozy. And ditto on the living room–I love the luggage for a table.
I can’t wait to have blanket tents…what fun!
Man, I wish I could come to one of your hot chocolate and Boggle sessions! That sounds so perfect. For me, it’s all about tea, wool blankets and staring out the window or reading… And beeswax candles.
Beeswax candles, yes yes yes!
Fall is in full swing here. It’s milder than other Septembers, warm during the day, but crisp in the early morning and the evening. Coziness for me: wearing my thickest pair of wool socks (thick enough that they feel a bit like boots), reading with a cup of tea and a record playing.
The sibling is over studying right now. So I’m listening to his classical guitar trills while I read :)
Also, a recent favorite word game is called Anomia. It requires quick recall and involves much yelling and laughter (works best with a bit of a group).
After a lifetime of sandals and bare feet, it’s so very hard to make the switch to socks…I’m doing my darndest but it’s not second nature yet! (:
Looks like the perfect place to curl up with a book and some chai tea :)
Cheers,
Courtney Hosny
That it is. (: Especially with a warm cat.
You can blame your father-in-law for plugging your blog on fb for me seeing this! LOVING your home and your style and your quirky wonderful blog :)
I’m so glad you stopped by! (:
