of grazing
What kind of reader are you?
I’m a grazer – always nuzzling about for a juicier blade of grass, a greener clump of leaves – and there is an ever-shifting clutch of books cluttering the space underneath my bed. Here’s a little cross-section of the pages I’m chewing and re-chewing at the moment.
And the cuppa providing sips that wash down the bites.
Are you a grazer like me? Or maybe you’re more of a carnivore, like my man. He attacks one book at a time, stalking his prey then devouring it whole.
Either way, I want to know which books are piling up on the floor next to your bed!
PS. A little unsolicited advice to the bachelors of the world from this old married woman …there is nothing more sexy than a man who loves to read.
I used to be a grazer but I’m more of a carnivore now. I just finished Violence of Love by Oscar Romero (excellent) and The Cost of Discipleship by Bonhoeffer, and now I’m shifting genres and delving into Portrait of a Lady by Henry James.
I’m more of a carnivore, I devour books in one or two settings. Speaking of which, I see a few titles in your pile I need to borrow! But right now I am reading The Discovery of Heaven for the Utrecht Book Club. It is more of the type of book one grazes.
I confess that I am more of a carnivore according to your description. The last book I devoured in three gulps is “Half Broke Horses” by Jeannette Walls. I quickly obtained her first novel, “The Glass Castle” which I am stalking, waiting for the perfect moment to pounce on my latest prey. I am hungry for more!
I’m also a carnivore. Sidenote – fabulous pictures. You have a great eye.
It looks like I’m outnumbered! (: Thank you for your kind words.
I’m more of a carnivore, with Diane Setterfield’s The Thirteenth Tale currently providing my nourishment. Part of me has wanted to devour it in one or two goes, but another part of me has tried to make it last for as long as possible, because I’m enjoying it so much.

Carnivore, I am definitely a carnivore although there is nothing high brow on the stacks around my bed right now. I am re-reading “Jane Goes Batty” by Michael Thomas Ford and my son is working on shark books right now.
And carnivore is exactly the right word to describe Austen a la vampire – what a creative idea, haha! (:
